The Art League
The Briny Art League enjoys a long history of providing classes to Briny residents.
1940 resident Louise O'Brian is shown holding one of her paintings in the March 2017 edition of The Coastal Star (p. 65). In 1950, Roland Stebbins, the retired head of the University of Wisconsin's art department, started teaching about 20 aspiring amateurs. Two years later in 1952, the Briny Art League held its first art show.
From a storage building to an old cottage to 40+ years in a Quonset hut - - our Briny Art Studio - - the Briny Art League has offered our residents a place to begin or continue exploring art in the warmth and beauty of South Florida.
In March 2017, The Coastal Star featured the Briny Art League in its "Around Town" section. Go to page 65 "Around Town" A tradition of talent: Briny art show marks 65th anniversary and 76 to see the article in the March 2017 Coastal Star.
(Our gratitude to The Coastal Star for helping to preserve our history!)
